Crystal Lake 20-Year-Old Identified as Gacy Victim
Matthew Bowman, 20, whose next-of-kin live in the Crystal Lake area, is among the most recent victims identified from skeletal remains found in the home of accused mass murderer John Gacy. Bowman and John Mowery, 20, of Chicago, were identified Saturday by Cook County medical examiner Dr. Robert Stein from dental records provided by the victims’ families. According to an investigator with the Cook County Sheriff’s office, Bowman disappeared July 5, 1977.
However, no missing person’s report was ever filed with either the Crystal Lake Police Department or the McHenry County Sheriff’s office. So far, 12 victims have been identified out of the 29 bodies that have been found 10 youths whose remains were found at Gacy’s home and two whose bodies were recovered from the Des Plaines River near Joliet in Will County. Gacy, 36, has been indicted in the murders of seven young men. He reportedly told investigators that be killed 32 young men.
