Tragically, Edward Moore was one of the victims of California serial murderer, Randy Kraft who was convicted of murdering 16 men and boys between 1972 and 1983 and is on death row for his crimes. He was known as the “Scorecard Killer.” He was known to have killed at least another 51 young men and boys and is the most prolific serial murderer in California history.
A Marine stationed at Camp Pendleton, Moore was dumped from a vehicle beside the 7th Street on-ramp to I-605 in Seal Beach. Moore had no belt and no shoes and only one sock. He had been sodomized with the other sock. Moore was last seen December 22, 1972, on the streets of Oceanside. Moore’s cause of death was strangulation. There were red ligature marks around the neck. There were no drugs in his system. Fingernail scratches were found on his testicles and bite mark on his penis. Described as a “hustler” type which suggests he may have been a part time prostitute. Moore frequented several gay bars in Long Beach, San Clemente and Oceanside. An instruction book for the harmonica that belonged to Moore was found in Kraft’s home. Moore is part of the Seal Beach cases. Moore’s initials “EDM” are represented on Kraft’s Scorecard found in his trunk the night of his arrest.
