Mark Steven Scott (17)

Born
Houston, Harris County, Texas
Death
21 Apr 1972, Houston Heights, Harris County, Texas
Tragically, Mark Scott was one of the victims of Houston’s serial killer and sex offender Dean Corll who abducted, raped, tortured, and murdered a minimum of twenty-eight teenage boys and young men between 1970 and 1973 in Houston and Pasadena, Texas. He was aided by two teenaged accomplices. Their crimes became known as the Houston Mass Murders, and he was known as the “The Candy Man.”
On April 21, 1972, 17-year-old Mark Scott, a friend of both Henley and Brooks was killed at Corll’s Schuler Street address. He was forced to write a letter to his parents claiming that he had found a job in Austin. According to Henley he was specifically chosen by Corll to be his next victim as, Henley stated, he recently “cheated [Corll] on a deal” relating to stolen property. He was grabbed by force and fought furiously against attempts by Corll to restrain him, even attempting to stab Corll with a knife. However, Scott saw Henley pointing a pistol toward him and according to Brooks, Scott “just gave up.” Scott was tied to the torture board and suffered the same fate as Aguirre: rape, torture, strangulation, and burial at High Island Beach.
