No Leads on Missing Houstonian

Austin and Houston police report no new information concerning the fate of an 18-year-old University of Texas freshman missing for over a week. Jeffrey Alan Konen disappeared Sept. 23 after of hitchhiking to Houston, with a roommate for a weekend at home with his family. Houston police said an anonymous caller who demanded $5,000 in ransom hung up when the youth’s parents asked to speak to their son. There have been no other calls, they say. Austin police said the youth was last seen at the intersection of Westminster and Voss Road in Houston and there is nothing to indicate that he has returned to Austin.
