Police Quiz “Trash Bag’ Killer On 18 Other Cases
by Riverside (UPI)
Patrick Wayne Kearney, the so-called Trash Bag Killer of several young men, was interviewed in prison by police concerning the slayings of 18 other boys and young men, it was reported today. Jay Grossman, Kearney’s attorney, said Los Angeles police and sheriff’s detectives interviewed his client at the California Institution for Men at Chino, where Kearney is serving a life term for murdering three men. Grossman said Kearney discussed a total of 18 killings with the law enforcement authorities. The attorney did not go into details. After Kearney’s arrest last summer, authorities said he may have been involved in as many as 28 slayings, known as the Trash Bag murders, because most of the victims, all male, were found nude, mutilated and stuffed in trash bags on major highways. Kearney pleaded guilty to three murder counts in Riverside County in September and was sentenced to life in state prison.
