A homicidal maniac loose in the Southland has murdered at least five young men since last Dec. 26: and scattered the bodies some of them dismembered or sexually mutilated across two counties. The latest grisly find was made July 30 in Seal Beach where the garroted body of Ronnie Jean Wiebe, 21, was discovered dumped in the bushes alongside the Seventh Street onramp to the southbound San Diego Freeway. The first body in the gruesome series that started in December also was found in Seal Beach. The victim. later identified as Camp Pendleton Marine Edward Daniel Moore, 20, was found near the Seventh Street offramp to the San Diego Freeway, less than a quarter mile from where Wiebe’s body was discovered. The body of a young man still unidentified, was found April 14 on the Terminal Island Freeway about a quarter mile south of. Pacific Coast Highway. Another body, also unidentified and about 20 years of age was found April 14 in Huntington Beach. The dismembered, decapitated and sexually mutilated body of a man about 20 years old, never identified, was found piece by piece in green plastic trash bags strewn in Wilmington, Long Beach, Sunset Beach and Carson starting April 22. The first four bodies were nude when found and the Huntington Beach victim, like the torso found Apr-22, had been castrated. There is little or no doubt that the same killer is responsible for all five of these murders, said’ Seal Beach Detective Sgt.
