Tragically, Robert Avila was one of the victims of California serial murderer, Randy Kraft who was convicted of murdering 16 men and boys between 1972 and 1983 and is on death row for his crimes. He was known as the “Scorecard Killer.” He was known to have killed at least another 51 young men and boys and is the most prolific serial murderer in California history.
Just forty feet from Davis’s body, the same Cal Trans crew also found the body of 16-year-old Robert Avila in Echo Park, next to the Hollywood Freeway. Avila had been missing since July 21, and his body was also markedly decomposed. He had been strangled to death with a length of stereo speaker wire. Avila was known to be a heavy “DEODORANT” user. Prosecutors believe Avila is linked to the coded word “DEODORANT” represented on Kraft’s Scorecard found in his trunk the night of his arrest.
