Born
Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana
Death
20 Jul 1994, Noblesville Township, Hamilton County, Indiana
Tragically, Roger Goodlet was one of the victims of an unidentified American serial killer who killed at least eleven young boys and adult men in Indiana and Ohio between June 1980 and October 1991, dumping their bodies near Interstate 70. He was known as the “I-70 Strangler” who killed at least another 24 young men and boys. Though officially unsolved, Herb Baumeister was named the prime suspect in the case in April 1999 by law enforcement. According to investigators, bodies related to the “I-70 Strangler” case stopped being found in 1991 after Baumeister bought the Fox Hollow Farm, which he would use as a burial site for his subsequent victims.
On July 22, 1994, 33-year-old Roger Goodlet disappeared under distressing circumstances. He was last seen leaving a gay bar in Indianapolis. His friends and family reported him missing when he didn’t return home, which was highly unusual for him. The investigation into his disappearance revealed that he had likely been lured by Herbert Baumeister, who was known to frequent the same bars and target gay men. Baumeister would often approach his victims in these social settings, gaining their trust before taking them to his property, where he would ultimately murder them. Roger’s disappearance, along with those of other men, eventually led to the discovery of Baumeister’s crimes and the recovery of remains on his property.
