Tragically, Roy Bunton was one of the victims of Houston’s serial killer and sex offender Dean Corll who abducted, raped, tortured, and murdered a minimum of twenty-eight teenage boys and young men between 1970 and 1973 in Houston and Pasadena, Texas. He was aided by two teenaged accomplices. Their crimes became known as the Houston Mass Murders, and he was known as the “The Candy Man.”
On August 21, 1972, 19-year-old Roy Bunton was abducted while walking to his job as an assistant in a Houston shoe store. Bunton was gagged with a section of Turkish towel and his mouth bound with adhesive tape. He was shot twice in the head and buried in the boat shed. The youth was named by Brooks or Henley as being a victim of Corll and was identified as a victim only in 2011.
