Second Slaying Victim’s Body Dumped Near Base
The second body or a male shooting victim to be found in a month and a half in the Skaggs Island area was discovered early Sunday afternoon by two unidentified duck hunters. Wearing a left arm tattoo depicting a devil on a winged wheel with the slogan “Born to Lose,” the unidentified body was found face up but covered with brush. He appeared to have been dead about 48 hours. The location was directly across from Skaggs Island and just south of Skaggs Island Road, according to the Vailejo sheriff’s office.
The time of discovery was 12:55 p.m. The spot was half a mile from where the first body was found September 3. A later autopsy revealed the victim had been shot twice, one lethal bullet entering the left chest and piercing the heart, and the other fired into the abdomen. He also had been badly beaten about the head and body, according to Coroner-elect James O’Brien. The slain maa was described by Sgt. George Matlock who heads the homicide investigation, as about 25 to 30 years old, 5′ feet, 8″ inches tall, 135 pounds, with brown medium-length hair, mustache and goatee, and wearing an olive drab Navy canvas jacket, black leather motorcycle pants and black boots. No identification was found.
No motorcycle nor death gun was found in the area. Matlock said it is unknown whether the two slayings are connected and whether the victim was shot where found or elsewhere. Fingerprints were taken from the body to be sent to the State Bureau Criminal Investigation and Identification at Sacramento. Among many tattoos on the body were the initials “HD”on the left middle finger, a large “13” on the back of the left hand, the word “Panhead” on the left forearm, a large sword displaying a rose and the slogan “Death Before Dishonor” on the left forearm, and a winged skeleton wearing
