Tragically, the unknown youth was one of the victims of California serial murderer, Patrick Wayne Kearney who was convicted of murdering 21 young men and boys between 1962 and 1977 and is currently serving twenty-one life sentences and is incarcerated at California’s Mule Creek State Prison for his crimes. He was known as the “Trash Bag Killer” and is known to have killed at least 43 young men and boys and is one of the most prolific serial murderers in California history.

In the Spring of 1962, a 16-year-old unknown victim was the cousin of Kearney’s first victim, who had witnessed Kearney drive away withthe victim. Kearney claimed that this victim had been inquiring of Kearney about the whereabouts of his cousin. Kearney claimed he had offered to take the victim to his cousin and that he had driven and killed him in the same location. He was shot in the head and sexually assaulted.
