Gacy Picks Fried Chicken for Last Meal

Serial killer John Wayne Gacy has selected fried chicken and French fries as his last meal, the Department of Corrections announced Wednesday. Gacy, 52, slated to die early Tuesday at Statesville Correctional Center in Joliet, also picked cola and fresh strawberries for his final meal. He’ll eat about six hours before his execution, slated for 12:01 a.m., said department spokesman Nic Howell. Gacy, convicted of killing 33 young men and boys in 1980, remained at Menard Correctional Center in Chester. Howell said he was uncertain when and how Gacy would be moved to Joliet. Two appeals attempting to block the execution remain in state and federal courts, but state officials say they’re confident the execution will occur as scheduled.
