William Wayne Kindred (19)
Born
Chicago, Illinois
Death
16 Feb 1978, Norwood Park Township, Illinois
Tragically, William Kindred was one of the victims of Illinois serial killer and sex offender John Wayne Gacy who raped, tortured, and murdered at least 33 young men and boys between 1962 and 1977. His conviction for thirty-three murders (by one individual) then covered the most homicides in United States legal history. Gacy was sentenced to death and was executed by lethal injection at Statesville Correctional Center on May 10, 1994. He became known as “The Killer Clown” due to his public performances as a clown prior to the discovery of his crimes and is one of the most prolific serial murderers in Chicago history.
On February 16, 1978, 19-year-old William Kindred a Chicago resident’s girlfriend, Mary Jo Paulus, who met Kindred when he picked her and a friend up while they were hitchhiking on the North Side in July 1977, reports him missing after he fails to arrive at her house. Paulus knew Gacy, but it’s unclear if Kindred did too. Police develop information that Kindred was picked up by Gacy near Diversey Parkway and Broadway. He was “Body #27” and buried under the crawl space.
He is finally identified with dental records on May 21, 1979.
